Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO for short) is a sulfur-containing organic compound. It is a colorless and odorless transparent liquid at room temperature. It is a hygroscopic flammable liquid. It has high polarity, high boiling point, non-proton, and is mixed with water. Soluble characteristics, extremely low toxicity, good thermal stability, not mixed with alkanes, soluble in most organic substances such as water, ethanol, propanol, ether, benzene and chloroform, and is known as the "universal solvent"
