Firstly, NMP has low volatility at room temperature, low toxicity, and good control over processing environment. It can dissolve and mix well with water, PVDF, positive and negative electrode materials, etc. Therefore, it is widely used in the preparation of lithium batteries. When making electrode sheets, NMP can be used as a solvent to blend various electrode materials such as binders, positive electrode active materials, and conductive agents, allowing the binder to fully contact and distribute evenly with other substances.
