Introduction to tetrahydrofuran
Tetrahydrofuran is a kind of heterocyclic organic compounds. It is one of the strongest polar ethers. It is used as a medium polar solvent in chemical reaction and extraction. THF is a clear, low viscosity liquid with an ether like odor. THF is completely miscible with water at room temperature. THF can easily become peroxide during storage. Therefore, commercial THF often uses BHT, i.e. 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, to prevent oxidation. In addition, THF can also be stored in a sealed bottle in a dark place through sodium hydroxide. THF is a fully hydrogenated analogue of the aromatic compound furan.
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is one of the most important additives because of its low toxicity, low boiling point and good fluidity
Tetrahydrofuran has a wide range of uses as organic synthetic raw materials and excellent solvents
The organic matter has good solubility. It can dissolve all kinds of chemicals except polyethylene, polypropylene and fluororesin
There are organic compounds, especially for polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, and aniline
Dissolution is widely used as reactive solvent, known as "universal solvent". As a common solution
Tetrahydrofuran has been widely used in surface coatings, protective coatings, inks, extractants and people
For the surface treatment of leather making, tetrahydrofuran is used to produce polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG)
It is also the main solvent in the pharmaceutical industry.
