EU ECHA plans to add seven substances of high concern to the list of authorized substances.
On February 5, 2018, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) proposed to the European Commission that seven substances of high concern (SVHC) were added to the list of approved REACH substances (Appendix XIV), of which two substances were reproductively toxic, others Five items are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) or persistent and bioaccumulative (vPvB).
The seven SVHCs to be added are as follows:
Substances added to the list of authorized substances cannot be used after the sunset date unless they are exempted or authorized. If the application is filed before the latest application date, the applicant can continue to use the SVHC after the sunset date and before the European Commission makes a resolution. Manufacturers, importers or downstream users can apply for authorization of the corresponding substances.
Relevant companies are reminded to pay attention to the Annex XIV update of the REACH Regulation and respond flexibly to effectively prevent subsequent trade risks.
