Market application of γ-butyrolactone
γ-butyrolactone (GBL) i is an important fine chemical intermediate with high boiling point, strong solubility, strong conductivity, good stability and other characteristics. It can undergo a series of chemical reactions with or without ring opening, so it is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, petroleum industry, synthetic fiber industry, and synthetic resin industry.
In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as an anesthetic and sedative to treat epilepsy, cerebral hemorrhage and hypertension, as an intermediate of vitamin raw materials, X-ray contrast agent, synthetic antibacterial new drugs ciprofloxacin and interferon, etc.; in the petroleum industry, it is used as an extractant for absorbing alkynes, aromatic hydrocarbons, water-insoluble alcohols and cyclic ethers, and as an additive for lubricating oils; in the synthetic fiber industry, it is used as a spinning flux and coagulation solvent for acrylonitrile fibers, a dyeing auxiliary for cellulose ester wool and nylon, and an antistatic agent for nylon fibers; in the synthetic resin industry, it is used as a solvent for polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, a dispersant for polyvinyl fluoride, a dyeing modifier, antioxidant, plasticizer, etc. for various resins; in addition, it can also be used as an intermediate for pesticides, herbicides, electrolytes for batteries and capacitors, and feed additives.
In the coming years, the market demand for downstream products of γ-butyrolactone (GBL) will grow rapidly, and the rapid development of the domestic 1,4-butanediol and maleic anhydride industries will provide a guarantee for the development of GBL.
GBL is mainly used to produce fine chemical products such as cyclopropylamine (CPA), N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), α-acetyl-γ-butyrolactone (ABL), N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), and 2-pyrrolidone.
